A Message from the Los Angeles Commision LACAAW is governed by an all volunteer Board of Directors with technical assistance provided by the LACAAW Volunteer Advisory Board. Programs are coordinated by a combination of staff members and volunteers, who provide over 20,000 hours of service each year to victims of all socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds, teens and children, some of those who are Deaf, homeless, elderly, physically or developmentally disabled and recent immigrants. All LACAAW services are also available in Spanish and American Sign Language. LACAAW is part of an ever growing network of people and organizations holding to the philosophy that violence is preventable and that no one need face the crisis of interpersonal violence, or threats of violence, alone. A network of people guided by the principles of empowerment, education, advocacy and social change.
